After being called and licensed to preach the gospel at The Mount Pilgrim B.C. under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Dr. John Brooks, Rev. Davis was ordained by The Westside Missionary Baptist Association. Holding the philosophy that a call to preach is a call to preparation, Rev. Davis matriculated through and received a Master of Divinity Degree with a specialization in Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a Doctorate of Divinity from St. Thomas Seminary.
November 2002, Reverend Davis was installed as senior pastor of New Light Baptist Church and has served humbly for 20 years. In addition to his pastoral duties, he is a teacher in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. He is also an instructor at Christian Bible College and is the past president of the Congress of Christian Education for the Southern General Missionary Baptist Association.
Reverend Davis is married to Lady Kathy S. Davis, and they are the Godly proud parents of five lovely children: Sgt. Garron (U.S. Army) and his wife, Rachael, Gabrielle, Christian, Alexis, and Jeremiah Davis. Above and beyond all of his accomplishments, Reverend Davis considers himself blessed and highly favored of God to be saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled, and fire baptized. He counts it an honor to be used as a vessel of God to proclaim the unsearchable riches of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
